Howdy,

First post on the forum...and in fact just returning to wargamming after taking WAY too many years off. I'm looking to get into some historical Tabletop wargamming and was wondering what the scene was like around Quarterstaff. I live in Vergennes so don't make it up there often enough but I don't remember seeing much in the way of historicals other than Flames of War...which isn't really an interest of mine.

As I have no mini for this, or even any rule sets, I'm open minded...so I would like to hear what others are into before I commit to buying some troops. If I had my druthers I would love to play a 28mm English Civil War or late Medieval army (I like Pike and shot) but would be willing to give Naploeonics, Civil War, or Rev War a try...heck I would even consider Ancients If it meant I had some people to play against.

I've really been inspired by the new Warlord and Perry miniatures to get back into gaming...I used to play WFB constantly...and still have a ton of minis from the early 90's but I'm looking for a more "realistic" experiece at this point in my life.

So what are you into? or What do you want to get into?

Cheers,

Blue

Good question. :D

I'm also interested if a historical miniatures scene exists around these parts. I own the Fields of Glory and Bulldogs Away! rulesets and have read DBA. However I've never picked up any figures or pursued the hobby further because I've seen no evidence of other people playing this sort of thing in Vermont (other than FOW). If there is a "scene" it would be great to hear about it.

JMfry,

Well...glad to see I'm no the only one in the area interested in such things... Is there a particular time period/conflict that you are interested in?

Cheers,

Blue

I'm open to just about anything but have a particular interest in the late Roman and medieval Eastern Mediterranean. Byzantines, Alans, Arabs, Rus, Crusaders, that sort of thing. I'm also interested in 20th century naval wargaming and have eyed the Seekrieg 5 ruleset and related miniatures many times over the years.

If there was interest in putting together a regular group for historical miniatures that could be fun. I have no idea if the critical mass exists for such a thing, though.

Man a regular group would be fun...but I'm not feeling very encouraged by the response we've gotten here....or lack there of...as the case may be... :|

I have quite a bit of historical gaming minis - though I would have to dig them out to see exactly what I still have since I switched over to mostly 40k 7 years ago since that is all I could interest my son in. Most of it is WWII 20mm and Napoleonic 15mm and 25mm
