I love showing off my painted models but I can never seem to get the type of picture I want. I have some Chaos Space Marines painted, as well as a bunch of Necrons, but I can't get close enough to show detail without getting everything really fuzzy. Another problem is the lighting... does anybody have suggestions to get good pictures with a generic digital camera?

Thank you

Most digital cameras have a setting which allows for close up images, on some cameras this setting is represented by a image of a flower. Also, you'll want good light, and maybe a white background. Good luck!

Hi,
I have some advice for you.

1. You need a good background to take pictures. I pile a bunch of role playing books, then drape a light blue sheet over it. I try to angle the sheet and use it to also be the bottom
2. A tripod is a must for your digital camera! You need a very steady hand, so steady it does not move at all.
3. The poster above is talking about Super Macro. See if your camera has this ability, you really need it. Also, turn the auto focus off of your camera for best results.
4. Use a light that shines directly on the model. I use 2 painting lamps, one on each side of the camera.
5. Do not use the cameras flash! Turn it off.

Ok I hope that helped.

Here is a example of a few pics I have taken for Invader Larb (Matt Randy)

These are Pulp City models but the same steps can be taken to get good results on your GW models. (i still have not figured out how to take the auto focus off my camera, so they are a smidge blurry)

Thanks to both of you. I think the auto focus is one of my problems as well. When I get some good ones, I'll post a few here.
